Webinar: Hold the Phone! How Instant Messaging Apps are Changing Internal Compliance Investigations

The way we communicate in business today has exploded from primarily email to alternate forms of messaging (SMS, WhatsApp, WeChat, Slack, Skype, etc). When it comes to conducting compliance investigations, some of the most useful evidence – correspondence among employees – is no longer found on email servers but instead resides in the “cloud” – or in some cases, are designed to vanished shortly after being sent (a la SnapChat). Collecting and reviewing so-called “ephemeral” messages presents a variety of technical and substantive complexities, e.g., data privacy, BYOD policies, regulator expectations, encryption, cultural issues and much more. In this session we’ll look at how leading legal minds and technologists aim to strike a the right balance between ephemeral messaging and effective investigations.
