The way we communicate in business today has exploded from primarily email to alternate forms of messaging (SMS, WhatsApp, WeChat, Slack, Skype, etc). When it comes to conducting compliance investigations, some of the most useful evidence – correspondence among employees – is no longer found on email servers but instead resides in the “cloud” – or in some cases, are designed to vanished shortly after being sent (a la SnapChat).
